Business Continuity Management Consulting for Companies: Staying Operational When It Really Matters

Cyberattacks, power outages, natural disasters, supply chain disruptions, or regulatory crises. No company is immune to unexpected disruptions. The key question is not whether a disruption will occur, but how quickly and effectively your company will respond to it. Companies that haven’t established a structured business continuity management system lose valuable time, reputation, and revenue during a crisis.
Our Business Continuity Management Consulting combines strategic BCM expertise with in-depth implementation experience in IT, organizational structure, and governance. From business impact analysis to the development of robust continuity plans and recovery strategies, all the way to their sustainable integration into your organization. Vendor-neutral, field-tested, and with a clear focus on regulatory requirements such as NIS 2, DORA, and KRITIS.

Building BCM from the Ground Up

For companies without a structured BCM framework, we lay the necessary groundwork through a clearly structured program. This ranges from business impact analysis, risk analysis, continuity strategy, and emergency plans to the first staff exercise. The result is a functional BCM system that is immediately ready for use.

Professionalizing Existing BCM

Many companies have established initial BCM frameworks, but these are outdated, incomplete, or not in compliance with regulations. We assess the current situation, close gaps, update plans, and bring the BCM to a demonstrably robust level.

Comply with Regulatory Requirements

NIS 2, DORA, KRITIS, or ISO 22301. When regulatory pressure calls for it, we provide targeted support to help you achieve compliance. We translate regulatory requirements into concrete BCM measures and prepare your company for audits and inspections.

Managing a Crisis and Learning from It

Following a cyberattack, system failure, or other crisis, we help you conduct a structured review. What worked? What failed? What BCM gaps were revealed? We identify specific improvement measures and strengthen your resilience for the long term.

Integrating IT Disaster Recovery with BCM

In an emergency, IT and business are inseparable. We integrate IT disaster recovery strategies with overarching business continuity management and ensure that technical recovery objectives are aligned with actual business requirements.

Managing Supply Chains and Third-Party Risks

BCM does not end at the company’s boundaries. We assess the BCM maturity of critical suppliers and service providers, develop dependency analyses, and integrate third-party risk management into your BCM strategy.

Tests, Exercises, and Crisis Management Training

We plan and facilitate staff exercises, tabletop scenarios, and crisis simulations. This ensures that your executives and crisis response teams can act in a structured, calm, and effective manner in the event of an emergency, rather than having to make decisions under pressure for the first time.

NIS 2, DORA, and KRITIS: What Business Continuity Management Means from a Regulatory Perspective

Regulatory requirements for business continuity management have increased dramatically in recent years. For many companies, BCM has thus evolved from a voluntary best practice to a mandatory requirement for maintaining profitability, efficiency, and value creation.

The NIS 2 Directive requires companies in Germany to adhere to higher IT security standards. These explicitly include requirements for business continuity management, backup management, disaster recovery, and crisis management. This applies not only to traditional KRITIS operators but also to a significantly broader group of organizations across industry, healthcare, digital services, logistics, and public administration.

The Digital Operational Resilience Act applies to the financial sector and imposes extensive requirements regarding risk management, resilience, incident reporting, and the management of third-party ICT service providers. Business continuity and disaster recovery are explicitly mandated and must be regularly tested and demonstrated.

Operators of critical infrastructure are required to conduct business impact analyses, develop emergency plans, and demonstrate that they regularly test their business continuity management (BCM) measures.

Both standards provide a structured framework for establishing, operating, and certifying a business continuity management system. We guide you through both standards and develop multi-compliance approaches that meet multiple regulatory requirements simultaneously.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions About Business Continuity Management Consulting

Business continuity management is an organization’s ability to maintain critical processes even during disruptions and to quickly resume normal operations after a disruption. It protects against operational, financial, and reputational damage and is a regulatory requirement for many organizations.

A business impact analysis identifies which processes are critical to the company, what the consequences of a failure would be, and how long a failure can be tolerated. It serves as the basis for all further BCM decisions and investments.

The effort involved depends on the size of the company, its level of maturity, the number of critical processes, and regulatory requirements. Following a structured initial consultation, you will receive a transparent, binding quote.
