Products, systems and software solutions are becoming increasingly complex. Established development processes are reaching their limits – resulting in a loss of time, interface problems and a lack of traceability. With Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), companies and engineering teams gain clarity about requirements, architecture and design, link disciplines and increase the quality of system development. Our MBSE training has a modular structure and can be individually combined depending on your level of knowledge, role and objectives. It offers you a sound introduction to MBSE, teaches you the practical basics of SysML and shows you how to use modeling specifically for management, enterprise architecture and company-wide collaboration. You will learn SysML v1 as a resilient introduction – with a view to SysML v2 – and can optionally use the tool chain (e.g. MagicDraw/CAMEO System Modeler/CAIA Magic, Enterprise Architect) productively.

Contents and procedure of the MBSE training

Our MBSE training combines clear fundamentals with direct application. You will understand the added value of MBSE for companies, learn SysML in a structured way and apply modeling directly – from the first model to consistent system architecture.

Note: All modules are available as in-house training or online and can be individually adapted and put together according to previous knowledge.

Day 1 – Introduction MBSE Basics (Module 1)

  • SE vs. MBSE: When are processes sufficient, when is modeling needed? Classification in the V model, reference to ISO/IEC 15288.
  • From requirement to system solution: Differentiation RE ↔ SE; safe transition to architecture, function, verification – typical pitfalls and best practices.
  • MBSE added value: transparency, traceability, controlled changes, earlier error detection, faster coordination – benefits for management, enterprise architecture and cross-functional teams.
  • Common language & practice: key terms/artifacts, lifecycle overview and mini case for structured system acquisition.

Day 2 – 3 – Introduction to SysML (Model-Based Modeling) (Module 2)

  • Overview of diagram types and main elements (structure, behavior, requirements, parametrics)
  • Interaction of diagrams: how architecture, functions and requirements are linked in the model
  • What is initially required to create a viable product/system architecture?
  • Basic concepts of SysML, outlook SysML v2 and use of generative AI in connection with MBSE

Day 4 – Tool operation and best practices (Module 3)

  • Why dedicated MBSE tools? Differences to “drawing tools” and Office slides
  • Project start: repository, model structure, creating diagrams and linking content
  • Extensions: modeling beyond SysML, integrations in systems and corporate environments
  • Best practices, quality assurance and how to continue learning independently (incl. optional MagicDraw introduction)

What MBSE training offers you

After the course, you will be able to use MBSE effectively as a management and engineering tool – for better decisions, faster coordination and higher system quality.
Your highlights at a glance:

Who is MBSE training suitable for?

MBSE training addresses management and engineering in equal measure – wherever complex systems are created and decisions need to be resilient.

Levels and formats
Choose the right course format for your needs – as an in-house course or online training. Customize your training according to your previous knowledge and put together the right modules.

The following target groups in particular benefit from our training:

  • Managers and decision-makers who set the course for modern development processes and enterprise architecture
  • Engineers, technicians, software developers who work together across domains and use MBSE as a development framework
  • Teams in companies that want to consistently combine system development, architecture and requirements

Participation requirements for the MBSE training

No special prior knowledge is required. We recommend at least two screens for online formats for SysML/Tool. Depending on the level of knowledge, we shorten SE/MBSE theory in favor of SysML and tool practice. Content can be customized as in-house training.

Individual in-house MBSE courses

Maximum benefit for your company: We tailor content, examples and tool selection to your system development and company architecture.

About us as a training provider

As a management consultancy with a strong practice in systems engineering and enterprise architecture, we support companies in establishing MBSE as a scalable “model-based” foundation for system development and management. Our MBSE training combines introduction, fundamentals and professional modeling – for clear architecture, resilient decisions and faster coordination in interdisciplinary teams.

Competence in ChatGPT and Copilot - Your speakers

Manuel Gramlich
Manuel Gramlich has been introducing systems engineering and MBSE to industrial clients for many years. Together with his team, he establishes company-wide, sustainable MBSE approaches in line with ISO/IEC 15288 and the V model, including integration into existing requirements, ALM and PLM systems. His focus: making complexity manageable, rolling out methods across the entire organization, ensuring traceability and accelerating decisions through data links and making them ready for AI. Together with our systems engineering experts and MBSE architects, who as Certified Systems Engineers (GfSE) Level B have over 10 years of experience in research and industry (automotive, aerospace, agricultural engineering), we design precise SysML architectures using resilient models. As consultants and trainers, we translate MBSE into practicable working methods for teams and management and accompany the path from pilot to scalable rollout.
